Meet the 2015-2016 TAP-SD Board!


President – Stephanie Wu swu@tap-sd.org

Stephanie was born in Hawaii and raised in Taiwan. She received her Bachelors of Science in Human Biology at University of California, San Diego. She spent many years in academia and the biotechnology industry where she focused on stem cell replacement therapy.  In her free time, she enjoys going on scenic hike with her maltipoo Chili, practicing Vinyasa yoga, and cooking mama Wu’s Taiwanese dishes. In addition, she is committed to winning this season’s trivia tournament with her fellow TAPpers.

VP External Affairs – Julia Kao jkao@tap-sd.org
Julia is currently a reading specialist who helps children with speech impediments and reading disorders. She enjoys working with kids and engaging in opportunities to help support the community. She came to San Diego straight from Taiwan in 2010 and started her relationship with TAP-SD not long ago. She has been loving the experience and felt fortunate meeting all the great people. In her free time, she enjoys modern dancing, listening to music and going to concerts, traveling, and exploring local restaurants.
VP Internal – Alice Chang
Alice was born in Taipei and raised in San Francisco. She graduated from UC Irvine with a degree in Political Science/Business Management and currently works as an analyst for an advertising agency in San Diego. Through her participation in TAP-SD marketing, she hopes to increase Taiwanese American awareness and better promote the core values of TAP in San Diego. In her free time, Alice enjoys traveling, eating, yoga-ing, sleeping, and watching movies.

Secretary – Wilma Lee
Wilma lived in Singapore, Taipei, and Boston before escaping to warm and sunny San Diego.  She graduated from UCSD in Molecular Biology and works for a biotech company focusing on biotherapeutic protein synthesis.  In her spare time, she enjoys rock climbing, Netflix-ing, and cheering on Boston sports teams.


 Treasurer – Jimmy Chen

Jimmy works as a mortgage real estate professional in San Diego. He has been in San Diego since middle school in the Carmel Valley Area. He enjoys outdoor activities such as basketball and tennis. He graduated from UCSD in Management Science, and has worked in the financial industry for over 5 years. He has been living in San Diego for over 10 years and is really familiar with the San Diego Area.

Professional Chair – Eric Ching

Eric W. Ching is an attorney that practices real estate law and business law. Mr. Ching started his career vastly different than other attorneys. Since graduating and passing the bar, Mr. Ching has worked as an associate litigation associate handling various real estate litigation matters. Even before reaching his six month of practicing law, Mr. Ching was selected to second-chair a complex real estate trial in Los Angeles representing and defending a multinational escrow/title company against a multimillion dollar lawsuit. After a hung jury, this case eventually settled for a favorable amount for the client.

Since then, Mr. Ching has handled two complex arbitrations: one representing a multimillion dollar real estate  investment and management company. The other representing an international business company dispute which resulted in a $4.85 million settlement.

So far in Mr. Ching’s career, Mr. Ching has negotiated and settled several lawsuits for a total of more than $500 million. Mr. Ching currently represents small business and real estate investors on various transactional issues. He works with many small private real estate landlords on landlord-tenant issues.

Mr. Ching is an active member of San Diego’s community. He is a board member of Taiwanese American Professionals of San Diego; a board member of San Diego Chinese Attorney’s Association; and a member of the San Diego County Bar Association. Mr. Ching actively participates in the local community by hosting informational seminars on real estate investment, landlord-tenant law, and business law.

Jusuan works in operations at LPL Financial in the Money Markets department. He graduated from University of California, San Diego in Management Science. Hobbies include reading, catching up on TV shows, gaming, and the outdoors.

 Wilson_croppedHistorian – Wilson Lau
Wilson is an assistant engineer for the City of San Diego’s Public Utilities Department.  His work focuses on writing engineering reports on future water planning projects.  Prior to his current position, Wilson worked as a lab technician for the City of Los Angeles.  He received his undergraduate degree from UC Riverside and his graduate degree from UC Irvine. He is currently studying for his PE exam to become a license civil engineer. During his free time, Wilson enjoys trying out new restaurants, hanging out with his friends and family, and exploring San Diego.

Roger_croppedMembership Chair – Roger Ku

Roger is a Marketing Programs Manager at Hewlett-Packard where he manages marketing campaigns for commercial printers in the U.S. market.  Prior to HP, Roger worked in supply chain management at Intel where he did product planning for their Solid State Drive business.  He received his B.S. in Managerial Economics from UC Davis and his MBA from UC Irvine’s Merage School of Business.  Originally from Sacramento, Roger loves to travel, try new restaurants, and root for his hometown Sacramento Kings.

Tina_croppedWellness Chair – Tina Szutu
Tina is a graduate from University of California San Deigo who currently works as a software developer at a cloud based technology solutions company. When she’s not saving the world, you can find Tina looking for her next adventure(be it outdoors, indoors, or underground), doing some type of athletic activity, trying out some new restaurant, or having sheep wars in Catan(huge board game enthusiast here).
