2012 – 2013 Board

President – Christina Wang Christina works at Cricket Communications, Inc. as a Business Analyst representing the Tax Department on internal cross-functional projects. Prior to joining Cricket, she was a Business Analyst in New York, working in the finance industry at JPMorgan Chase, leading projects in Global Credit Risk Management. Her extra-curricular activities include traveling the world, competing in dragon boat races, and making healthy lifestyle choices. Hailing from Houston, Texas, Christina completed her B.S. in Computer Sciences at the University of Texas, at Austin and is currently an MBA Candidate at UCLA Anderson. Interesting fact about her is that she sends postcards to her parents whenever she travels.

VP External Affairs – Grace Chen Grace works on next generation cell phones and tablets for Motorola Mobility. As former professional chair, she is excited to continue on in her new role and hopes to strengthen TAP-SD’s community relations and public image. She fell in love with San Diego after moving here for school and obtained a Master’s degree in Computer Science from University of California San Diego. In her free time she enjoys hiking with her dog, spending time at the beach, and exploring the great variety of food options that San Diego has to offer.

VP Internal Affairs – Amy Fan Amy is currently a freelance software developer who has previously worked in the defense industry. She received her B.S. in Computer Science at Washington University in St. Louis. Amy is also a member of Naruwan Taiko, a Taiwanese American Community Center taiko group. Some of Amy’s other hobbies include watching live music, taking pictures of mundane things, and exploring the outdoors of her classy hometown.

Treasurer – Sylvia Wu Sylvia works as a tax professional in San Diego. She has been with TAP-SD since 2010 the second year she moved to San Diego. She likes to hang out with all TAPPers. She also currently serves as the CPA of TACL. Her life philosophy is work hard and play hard.

Community Chair – Grace Lin Grace is an internal consultant for a cloud based technology solutions company where she focuses on company strategy and operations projects. Prior to her current position, Grace worked as a consultant at a large consulting firm. She received her undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley and her MBA from UCLA Anderson. After experiencing both the San Francisco Bay Area and Greater Los Angeles, she resolved to round out her tour of California living by moving to San Diego. Throughout her life, she has been dedicated to giving back to her community and is enthusiastic about sharing her culture and experiences with others. When time permits, Grace enjoys trying new recipes, exploring scenic hiking trails, and feeding her fiction addiction.

Membership Chair – Jeff Tsai Jeff is a Customs Compliance specialist at HonHai. He graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz where he was the co-chair and treasurer of the Chinese Student Association. He enjoys listening to EDM, participating in outdoor activities, traveling to new places, and experiencing different cuisines.

Professional Chair – Wani Chen Wani is a financial services professional who works with individual and small business on their financial and insurance planning. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Business Management and a minor in Marketing. During college, she worked as an executive intern at Target and enjoyed most when a new clothing line launched and she could buy before everyone else. Wani enjoys reading, traveling, and going shopping with friends after a long day of work. But what she really loves to do is being around her husband, James. Wani and James got married in the summer of 2007 and you can often see both of them at TAP events!

Social Chair – Sharon Wu Sharon is currently a senior audit staff at Robert R. Redwitz & Co., a regional CPA firm. She came to San Diego straight from Taiwan in 2006 and graduated in 2008 from SDSU, so she considers herself fresher than a fob. She started her relationship with TAP-SD in July 2010 and has met a lot of great people with the same passion about Taiwanese culture, news, celebrities, and food. Last year she was Cultural chair and has since transitioned to Social Chair. In her free time, she enjoys reading (especially romance mystery fiction), watching movies and musical shows, listening to music, trying new restaurants, singing karaoke, and shopping (of course). She is also passionate about planning trips and traveling – the UK has been on the top of her list since… she can’t even remember when.

At-Large – Mike Chiu Mike is a web developer at the California Institute for Technology and Information Technology at UC San Diego. As the former President of TAP-SD, Mike currently assists through his interactions with the 1G group. This role will be expanded in the coming year when, Mike joins the Board of Directors of the Taiwanese American Foundation of San Diego. Mike is currently a staff volunteer with Intervarsity’s International Christian Fellowship at UCSD and is active with the San Diego Presbyterian Church.

At-Large – Fred Liu Fred came to the United States for graduate school after college and military service in Taiwan. He has lived in Carmel Valley ever since its growth spurt and became interested in real estate after handling transactions, investments, and management for his family and friends. For the past three years, Fred has been a full time Realtor working under Prudential California Realty. He was awarded “rookie of the year” during his first year in the Carmel Valley office. Other than the traditional real estate transactions, Fred also specializes in fixer uppers and investment properties.
